He preferred that I didn’t record his interview, so I respected his wishes. We talked for a while though. His name is James. (I know that his jacket says Eric, but he said his name was James) He has been homeless for 15 years now. His nights are spent at the Pine Street Inn, a homeless shelter in Boston. He needed money to take the bus back to Boston, so I gave him a dollar. Hopefully that was enough. His goal is to get his own apartment. An interesting similarity that I drew between us was that he was a graduate of Lexington High School, class of 1968. It’s amazing what you can learn when you reach out to people out of your comfort level.
